Virtual Production
As a member of the inaugural cohort at NYU Tisch’s Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Center, I gained hands-on experience working on LED volume stages and within real-time rendering environments. My perspective on virtual production is grounded in how these systems function during an active shooting day and how they affect the flow of a set.
Working in LED volume environments taught me how closely technical elements intersect with scheduling, blocking, and coverage decisions. I’ve seen how small technical delays can quickly impact the day, and I’m attentive to identifying those pressure points early so adjustments can be made before momentum is lost. I’m comfortable coordinating across departments in settings where timing and communication are especially critical.
I don’t view virtual production as separate from traditional filmmaking, but as another environment that benefits from clear structure and steady oversight. As an assistant director, my goal in these spaces is to support the work by keeping the set focused and responsive, allowing the production to move forward without unnecessary disruption.
